NP Chorale Rehearsals begin January 13 for Spring Season 2020

New Season of NP Chorale Begins Monday, January 13

Spring season 2020 promises to be a very exciting season. Our first rehearsal of the new season begins on Monday, January 13, 2020, at 7:00 pm, in the Fellowship Hall of Wake Forest Baptist Church. For those of you who are new to NPC, Wake Forest Baptist Church is at 107 East South Avenue, Wake Forest, NC, 27587. The Fellowship Hall is on the first floor of the new section of the church. You will see it as you pull into the parking lot. Use the entrance on the right side of the building.

Special Event Planned

We are preparing several exciting events this semester. On Saturday, March 28, 2020, the Chorale has been invited to participate in a special “Messiah Sing Along” at the Wake Forest Baptist Church. A total of five organizations will participate in this event. We will be singing four selections from the “Messiah”. An orchestra and soloists have been secured, and it is even a possibility that Aaron Jackson, who will be conducting the event, may be able to direct one of our Monday evening rehearsals. Please note that the “Messiah Sing Along” is not mandatory for Chorale members, but wouldn’t it be amazing if all of us would participate in such a special day and singing a major classical work by Handel with other choirs.

“Home Is Where the Heart Is”

Our annual spring concerts will take place on Saturday, May 16, 2020, at New Hope Baptist Church, at 7:00 pm, and on Sunday, May 17, 2020, at McGregor Hall for the Performing Arts, at 3:00 pm. The theme of the concerts will be “Home Is Where the Heart Is”. NPC Director, Cindy Edwards has created a program that will be fun to sing and will have broad appeal for our audiences. The program tells of the journey of making America our home through the influences of multi-genres (patriotic, bluegrass, Celtic, folk, rock, and classical) and includes the following music selections:

“America the Beautiful” by Mark Hayes
“Song of the Tall Ship” (Men) by Luttrell, Hayes
“Shady Grove” (Women) by Tom Shelton
“Shenandoah” by Victor Johnson
“Cindy” by Mac Wilberg
“When Johnny Comes Marching Home” by Wilhousky
“The Gettysburg Address” by Mark Hayes
“Freedom Song” by Brahms/Beery
“Homeland” by G. Holst
“America (They’re Coming to America)” by Neil Diamond and David Maddux
“God Bless America” by Joseph Martin
