The Northeast Piedmont Chorale presented two spectacular concerts on December 8-9, 2023, to enthusiastic audiences in Wake County. A video of the concert is now available on YouTube.
“Sounds of the Season” was the theme as the Chorale presented a program of holiday classics and special treats at Wake Forest Baptist Church in Wake Forest on Friday evening and New Hope Baptist Church on Saturday evening in Raleigh.
The Chorale was led by Director Cindy Edwards.
The concerts were highlighted by the 12-movement masterwork Gloria by Vivaldi as the Chorale was joined by a 19-piece orchestra, bringing together nearly 100 singers and musicians on the stages, the largest in the history of the NPC.
Other selections included How Should A King Come, arranged by Jay Rouse; To Hear The Angels Sing, with music by the Chorale’s accompanist, Kristen Allred; Mary Did You Know? arranged by Craig Courtney; Carol For The Animals, composed by Patrick Weld and Alice Cramer; Mary’s Little Boy Chile, by Jester Hairston; Silver Bells, arranged by Kevin Robison; Betelehemu, arranged by Barrington Brooks; and A Musicological Journey Through The Twelve Days Of Christmas, by Craig Courtney.
As is customary, both of the concerts were free to the public, and audience members graciously made contributions in a strong show of support.
The Chorale is a non-profit, non-sectarian, volunteer organization whose mission is to perform fine choral music for the residents of the Northeast Piedmont area at no charge. Members of the Chorale come from Wake, Durham, Vance and Franklin counties.
Thank you to everyone who attended the concerts and for your support of your Northeast Piedmont Chorale!
